FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY LEAVE

WHAT THE LAW SAYS
If the person is employed for longer than 4 months and works for at least 4 days a week, he or she may take three days paid family responsibility leave during each year of employment.

Family responsibility leave applies:

When an employee's child is bornWhen an employee's child is sickIn the event of the death of an employee's spouse, life partner, parent, adoptive parent, grandparent, sibling, child or adopted child.

Important: Employees may be granted more than these three days at the discretion of the employer, or in terms of what the employment contract states.
