FIXED TERM CONTRACTS - LEGISLATION CHANGES 2015

The new Labour Relations Amendment Act as from January 2015.

Know how to implement and manage fixed-term and temporary contracts or you could land up with an unfair labour practice case on your hands!

Changes with respect to fixed-term employees:

An expiry of a fixed-term contact can now amount to dismissal;You can’t hire anyone on a fixed-term contract for longer than three months – except in one instance;Fixed-term employees are now be deemed as permanent employees after three months;Employees from labour brokers are now as deemed permanent employees after three months; andIf the work isn’t for a limited time or doesn’t meet the requirements of a fixed-term contract, then it’s seen as an indefinite contract
